Instagram Posts,
Writing Department

These are three prospective Instagram Posts that were created during my time in the Digital Authoring Practicum at York University. While split into groups, we were individually tasked to design, from brainstorming to final editor approvals, three sample Instagram posts for York's Writing Department. I ultimately ended up creating two traditional posts, and one carousel post for portfolio creation tips.

Post designed to generate interest for a first-year course, for new students and undecided majors alike.
A post for professional writing students to alert them to the advising team, separate from the English department.
A carousel post to encourage Professional Writing students to create their own portfolios and tips on how.
Each of the tips in individual posts in the carousel are further explored in the caption.

The design process involved drawing on inspiration from other university posts, doing research on post content, and applying editor and group feedback after each stage of drafting.

My goal for each of the posts was to stay within York's branding guidelines, while still using innovative and visually appealing design choices to make the posts stand out. The captions are meant to be insightful without being overwhelming, providing more in-depth information to enlighten and encourage.

For these posts, I primarily used Canva, creating my own templates from the tools available, or modifying Canva templates. Light image editing was done in Photoshop.
